| Future Technologies at TAD |
TAD has a well-earned reputation for excellence in its application of technologies to solve appraisal problems and enhance appraisal functions. We currently deploy that technology across three platforms, an IBM z9 Mainframe running zVM and zVSE, an IBM Power6 running OS/400, and Intel-based servers and workstations running Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP. We also currently use imaging and workflow management tools to drive internal processes in many operational sections of the organization. |
| Here are some technologies that are in our near future and what we intend to do
with them: |
GIS Our GIS project is fully operational and our GIS data is available for free download. |
| |
Scanning Scanning applications include Business Personal Property renditions, exemption applications, ARB protests, returned mail, and many other documents. |
| |
Electronic data transfer
We have implemented electronic exchange of information with the taxing jurisdictions in Tarrant County and adjacent county tax offices by means of a secure FTP site. This provides more timely information to the jurisdictions and reduces the volume of printing that we need to do to provide information in the form of reports. |
| |
Hand-held computers
Since 2004, TAD has used a combination of tablets and laptops for field data collection. With the addition in 2007 of wireless broadband and VPN technologies, appraisers in the field have access to all the data they need including GIS, mainframe applications, digital orthophotography, and document images. |
