New Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veterans: The 2009 Legislative session recently passed HB 3613 which provides for a new 100% exemption for veterans who qualify. First, the veteran must receive 100 percent disability compensation from the VA due to the veteran's service connected disability. Second, the veteran must have a rating of 100 percent disabled or of individual unemployability from the VA or the veteran's service branch.
If you are a disabled veteran who meets these qualifications, you must apply for the exemption using the
form provided by the State Comptroller's office.
The exemption is effective for the current 2009 tax year. For more information see this link.
