Update: Online Residential Homestead Exemption Application

By 01/25/2022Agents, Home Owners, News

The Tarrant Appraisal District has launched their new online website feature that will allow homeowners to apply for the Residence Homestead exemption online.

There is no fee for filing a Residence Homestead exemption application.  This is a one-time application; however, you may be asked to reapply periodically as the Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) fulfills their obligation to ensure that their records remain current.

The exemption helpline is staffed from 8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday and can be reached at 817-284-4063.  Exemption specialists can help answer eligibility, documentation and other general questions from Tarrant County residents.

Residents can also visit to view “Helpful Videos” with step-by-step instructions.

TAD Chief Appraiser, Jeff Law, says the average homeowner can save hundreds on their tax bill with an exemption.  Several types of homestead exemptions exist, including some for people over 65, people and veterans with disabilities, surviving spouses of service members and general exemption.

Applications will be processed in the order that they are received.  Processing times may vary.  You can view your current exemption(s) online (Texas Property Tax Code Section 25.027 prohibits the listing of age indicating information including age 65 or older) by locating your property via “Property Search” on’s homepage or from “My Dashboard” if you are an online account holder.
