Setup your Account for additional security

We take the security of your personal information seriously, which is why we require Two-factor authentication with both email validation and the option to use a phone-based authentication app for added security.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor Authentication is a security process that requires two or more forms of identification before granting access to an account or device. At Tarrant Appraisal District, we use two forms of identification: your password and a second factor, which is a code sent to your email and optionally a phone-based temporary code generated by an authentication app.

We require email validation as the first factor because it's a reliable way to confirm your identity. To set it up, simply log in or register your Tarrant Appraisal District account by providing a valid email address. You'll receive a code via email that you'll need to enter to complete the setup process. After that, whenever you log in to your account, you'll receive a code via email that you'll need to enter to access your account.

We also offer the option of using a phone-based authentication app as the second factor. This provides an added layer of security beyond a simple password. To set up an authentication app, download and install an app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. Then, log in to your Tarrant Appraisal District account, navigate to the security settings, and add the authenticator app as a second factor. Follow the instructions provided by the app to link your account with the app.

Once setup is complete, you'll receive a code in the app that you'll need to enter whenever you log in to your account.

By requiring two factors for authentication, we can help protect your personal information from unauthorized access. We encourage all users to enable MFA on their Portal account to ensure the highest level of security and protection.

Strong Password

Create a password that's at least 12 characters long and includes letters, numbers, and symbols. Don't use personal information like your name or birthdate. Change your password regularly and don't reuse the same password across multiple accounts.

Email Verification

Add your email address to your Tarrant Appraisal District account to enable email verification. We'll send a unique code to your email each time you log in to your account. Enter the code to access your account and ensure that only you can log in.

App Authentication

Use an authentication app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to generate a unique code every 30 seconds. Add the app as a second form of identification to your Tarrant Appraisal District account for added security beyond your password and email verification.

Email verification is an important security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Tarrant Appraisal District account.When you enable email verification, we will send a unique code to your email address each time you try to log in to your account.

You will need to enter this code in order to access your account. This helps ensure that only you, the account holder, can access your account. To enable email verification, simply log in to your Tarrant Appraisal District account, navigate to the security settings, and add your email address. Once your email address is verified, you'll receive a code via email that you'll need to enter to complete the setup process.

From then on, you'll receive a code via email each time you log in to your account.

App authentication is a secure and convenient way to protect your Tarrant Appraisal District account. 

With app authentication, you can use an authentication app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy to generate a unique code that you'll need to enter each time you log in to your account. This code changes every 30 seconds, making it nearly impossible for someone to guess or steal.
